In October, Urban Timber showcased their wares at the Illawarra Festival of Wood. This inaugural event attracted wood artisans and enthusiasts from the Illawarra, New South Wales and interstate.

Festival goers were hands-on, learning new skills and creating projects at a variety of workshops. Competitions, prizes, international food, live music and woodcarving added to the festival vibe.

The Urban Timber stand featured colourful furniture-art, created by Pamela King and fine furniture-maker, Jeff Phillips.

Jeff displayed hand-crafted boxes and mirrors, while Shane showcased end-grain platters, selected furniture pieces, and our range of bench-wood samples.

The team were busy meeting potential new clients and explaining the Urban Timber design and production process.

But there was still time to meet with like-minded furniture makers and potential collaborators, including Stuart Falkner from Heartwood Creative. Bianca Ward from Woonona was the lucky winner of our mailing list and Facebook promotion. She happily took home an Urban Timber Chestnut Platter.

Special thanks to Stuart and Suzanne Montague from the Illawarra Woodwork School and Christian and Tomiko Timbs from Japanese Tools who organised and promoted the Illawarra Festival of Wood. It was a wonderful weekend and we hope to do it all again next year!
